Trying to fit an Autoswitch (supplied by Nippy Norman), didn't know about Robs switch until I had it ordered, anyway I can't get the bugger to work and I am at the point where I believe the switch is at fault but just to check with you if I have made a glaring error.

Fitted the switch to the wiring under the Turn signal thing in the fuse box wired as follows

Power taken (Red Wire) from the "Green/Blue" wire (a volt meter confirms power on ignition

The Orange wire connected to the "Brown/White"

Black to earth

Purple to the Relay

Now with this set up I am getting a red Led when I turn on the ignition which extinguishes after a moment and then nothing, pressing the turn signal cancel achieves nothing.

I have checked the relay circuit by taking a feed from another source and it works fine.

So what have I done or have I got a dicky Autoswitch?

Don't know if it's Kaput or not.

Be interested to know the end result...I've got one that I hope to fit next week....I'll let you know if mine is any different...

CC

The orange wire makes an earth connection when switch is depressed try connecting it straight to earth, I installed mine as yours with no probs took the feed for the device from an ignition live of back of fuses that is used for heated grips etc it tells you which one that is in the owners manual.

Thanks Neil, just tried a different earth point and that was indeed the problem,

So warning not all earth points are what they seem.

Just to properly close the loop on this it was indeed the earth and all is now working as it should be.

All power to Norman as he was quick to agree to send a replacement when I called him this morning, managed to stop him before he'd posted it.

Very impressed with the concept and operation of the autoswitch and am fully lit up now.

In the end a simple job that I am pleased I did myself rather than sharing my hard earned with the local BMW dealer.

Pleased you solved the problem - I too was going to suggest checking this earth. The Autoswitch is awesome plug and play pulse technology wired for our BM's - the LED is great. The system ROCKS!

I agree had the first real use of it coming back from the NEC today and I am well impressed.
