Come on guys Tentsmuir is meant for walking, cycling and horseriding. Its very busy and people go there for peace and quite and won't be impressed by some lumbering bike riding past them, however responsible you may be. Its also (unlike most FC forests) good for all sorts of flora and fauna which any motorised use will disturb and ultimately de-value. Both the FC and fife council rangers patrol the place regularly (I know them both) riding a large road bike with a registration plate clearly displayed on the back is going to get you done. The Police will give you an ASBO and may take your bike off you.

There is enough bad press around about riding motorbikes off-road without us lot adding to it. There is a good track from Abernethy to Strathmiglo through Pitmedden forest - still listed as a public road and vehicle use is allowed.

Phil

Seems to be the consensious of opinion from those who know the area is that we should leave well alone. Fair enough. It might well have been an ill advised idea.

How about a run around the East Neuk of Fife then, possibly taking in Phil's Pitmedden woods track? Plenty good places for coffee/eats in the area.

Oonyack and moi have agreed to meet up on Sunday 5th November (if he's still up for a run now that Tentsmuir is off)

aye Phil, s'pose it is a track but width and surface make it a reasonable roadway. I take bike and car there on occasion.
Its not really the number of bikes that use a track but the way they use it that causes upset.
p.s. the track we have just spoken about as you know drops down into 'muchty past Seamus Shands old house. I used to maintain his water pump years ago. He had a MkV111 Velo and a Manx (think) Norton in his garage. He was an old 'biker'.
God am gettin' auld!

Whit Forry's going, don't think I'll bother now.

After he upset that poor wee poledancing ballerina ;)

Time you got yir erse intae gear and decided a route

Pitmedden to Abernethy Its on Landranger 58, NO2104 1303 - NO1808 1309
theres a cracking pub in Abernethy - the Crees Inn or something like that.

It comes out just down the road from the Glentarkie Landrover off-road centre - wonder if they could be persuaded to let bikes on?

Route should be no problem. We could stick to North East Fife/East Neuk where there are some cracking roads, villages and scenery.

Phil, are you coming on this? Can you lead the way at Pitmeeden,

I'll think up and post a proper route, kick off times etc when I get a mo'.

I'm looking forward to this. :thumb Havnae been oot on my bike since my gear lever escapade in Perth.
