Hi Guzzistas and others -

There were mutterings about maybe having an event this Autumn, so we don't have to wait until next summer for our next meet up Oop North.

It's a mini-Dent, if you like, hence it's being called the Ding.

The current non-plan is to identify a location that is -
  • In the northern bit of the Cotswolds
  • Offers camping and/or pub accommodation (plus options for motorhomes)
  • Has a good pub on site or close by so we can self cater or eat pub grub
  • Has good riding roads (not an issue and we'll consult local GSers for advice)
  • Other attractions, maybe that motor-based cafe that 'Enry Cole frequents
  • As usual, the seed for the idea is a Guzzi meet but everyone absolutely welcome irrespective of what they ride (or indeed drive)

For now, please just let me know if you're in principle interested. Dates may be as soon as 19-21 Sept, but we'll agree between us what's best.

We're a democracy (remember those?), so if you have any ideas to add, please do so.

Paul

Great idea.... love to make it if I'm free. Now what did my daughter do with my tent.

I too would like to say yes but we’re away until the 24th of September so that looks like I’m out.
Thanks for trying to organise it though Paul. I’m pretty determined to make it to Dent in May though!!

Oh no… Also away that weekend, riding somewhere near Barnoldswick… Hopefully Dent dates will work.
Have a great one!

Aw, apologies Paul.
Thanks again for being the prime mover in organising, sounds great.
I’d love to come but will be in France on the Beemer.

Eagerly keeping an eye on this just in case anything changes.

Hi all,

Ok after some preliminary research, here’s where we’re up to.

Again, this is just an idea, your suggestions are very welcome.

Venue - The Gate Hangs High, in the of village of Hook Norton.
‘ The gate hangs high’ is
  • A pub with a great menu
  • An adjoining campsite
  • Rooms available in the pub
  • Campsite allows tents and campervans
  • Fires are allowed
  • Dogs welcome
  • Easy access from the M40 for the more distant attendees

The camping facilities seem basic, but it ticks all the boxes we need.

Nearby, Hook Norton brewery (tours available), many many fabulous Cotswold villages (yes please tjmouse, some routes would be great), the Classic Motor Hub classic car cafe…

So….camp, pub room or camper as you wish. Fab ride outs around the lovely Cotswolds. One night pub grub, one night BBQ.

Oh, and IMHO Hook Norton beer - served at the pub - is extremely good!

Sounding OK?

I’ve noted that the campsite is operational until 27/09/25. I’d be up for this, providing the weather is going to be pleasant and not chucking it down bucketloads the entire time. Love Cotswolds.
