I have just fitted the Nippy Norman auto switch that makes your indicator cancel button turn on the lights. It simple to fit and you don't need an extra button.

If you have a indicator cancel switch that is!

Les whats the price on those switches and do they illuminate?
biggles how easy was the switch to fit, was there any issues with the 12's canbus?

I found the electronic Autoswitch I fitted from Nippy which needed a flash of high beam a bit of a pain to use, glad to see the newer switches now use the indicator cancel switch instead.

In the end I welded up a small handlebar bracket and fitted the green plastic illuminated switch that came with my Hella Micro DE's instead and haven't had a problem.

The switch is made by Hella and glows green when on, you can buy a very similar item from Halfords.

where does the switch mount, and where does it pick up the indicator wire. Do you have to strip half the bike etc etc

Hi
They are very easy to fit. You just find a switched live and a battery live. Then earth the black. A purple wire to a relay and bobs your uncle. The instructions even tell you what colour wire is the switch wire etc. Fitted mine in about 1/2 and love it.

Best little mod I've done so far on my R1100gs

Does anyone know, is a switch for AUX lights a requirement?

I have Hella micro DE's connected via relay to my low beam, and Hella FF50's connected via relay to my high beam. The DE's are on ALL the time, the FF50's light up when I switch to high beam.

I couldn't think of any circumstance why I wouldn't want this to happen, so didn't bother with a switch. However first MOT is not a million miles away.....

As far as I always understood it,and how we used to do it for the Rally car.
1.If you have aux lights fitted they have to opperate, correctly.
2.A switch is an option but Driving lights can only come on withy the main beam, the switch may be fitted so that they are mot always on with main beam, but they cannot be switched on on their own. They must switch off when the main beam is switched off.
3.Fog lights should only come on with dipped beam and again can be switched so as to not come on with dip beam but cannot come on on their own.
Thats what I always understood.

Last MOT I had, the tester didn't even switch on the Micro DE lights. He just checked main/dipped beam alignment.
