Hi Y'all

I was aware that the aux power outlet on the GSA switched off after 10 seconds or so... to do with the canbus wiring etc etc...

So I assumed all I had to do is start the bike and then the aux power would function. Today I wanted to pump up my tires with a 12V pump and after I plugged it in it would only run for about 5 seconds and then turn off. It did not matter if the engine was on or not. What is going on? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hi Monkeybrain,
There's only one thing I can think of, the outlet is rated at 5 amps and it has a resetable fuse. If you are using a pump that is intended for a car then it might be over 5 amp rating ( 60 watts ).
Try plugging in something like a mobile phone charger and see if it stays on when the bikes running.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Grimo

They all do that sir :(

I had a centech panel from the battery for items I didn't want to be canbus switched, like a DIN socket that was rated at 10 amps for electric pumps / heated jackets and charging the battery.

That is the dumbest thing ever. Why have an aux outlet if it does not aux out!?

What is that aux outlet for then?

I have same complaint Monkeybrain - want to run air bed inflator but socket says no, have to run off battery direct, pain in arse tajking seat off when perfectly good socket there to do the job (and I bought BMW to car type converter, now useless!!)!!!!!!

I'm fitting a Touratech Instrument Surround to my bike, it has 2 accessory sockets in it one with a BMW socket and one a normal 12V car type socket which you wire directly to the battery......Sorted!

(Bit of a faff to fit though as involves removing the instrument panel, screen and headlight)
