I've just received from the state's an electric air pump plugged it into my aux socket LHS below the seat it fired up for about a second and then went dead.

Is there a fuse for the socket and can someone tell me where it please :nenau

At the risk of asking a stupid question are there any differences in the wiring for the states?:D

I have a 1200 GS 2010..

The reason it stopped is because the socket is limited to 5 amps and the ZFE controller will shut the socket down if overloaded; the average pump takes a bit more than this. It will reset itself after a short period.

Don't think there is any substantial difference in the wiring in respect of this socket.

Best way to get around this is to wire the socket direct to the battery with an in-line fuse in the supply; this means that you could then use the pump, but beware as the battery does not hold very much surplus charge and may go flat enough not to be able to start the bike afterwards. Run the engine at the same time if you have a high load attached to it.

(The same question is asked at least once a month; a quick search would have revealed all)

As far as I'm aware .... you'll have exceeded the 5A loading of the canbus system and it will have tripped out. It'll reset itself but to run the load you intend to you'll need to have an auxiliary feed directly from the battery.

Stu.

... must type faster!
