Does anybody use the aux socket for mobile phone charging on the go, 1150gs?

I am doing 10 days in the Alps camping so theres a good chance I wont be able to charge the phone, also I may also want to power a car satnav (emergancy only)and use it for blowing up my airbed, I guess its upto it but don't want to take it for granted.

Yes, I put another socket up near the front of the tank and run a lead to a multi cigar socket inside a tank bag, from that I can charge my phone, run the satnav etc. you could do the same from the socket on the side of the motor.:thumb2

Yep, use it all the time IMO it's worth fitting a standard fag lighter size socket eg. below the RID display, (Available from Nippy Normans) it's saves messing with adapter.

Hi Dave
I've put 2 on my '02 GS, one is the Euro DIN size (AKA standard BM) the other is a standard cigarete size.
The Cigarete sized one came from Maplins for about £4 and comes with a splash proof cover.

Both are fed from a fuse on my aux fuse panel

PS
I made a couple of ally brackets and mounted the sockets under to clocks

i run a cable into my tank bag to then i have a multi port connector powering an iphone, and my (dry weather use) tomtom.... handy for finding hotels etc or when completely lost... i also use it to power a small air pump for my airbed with no bother...( in spain last year my lad was charging his PSP in his pocket!!!

you can get the DIN to ciggie adapter from JAYTHRO on here or ebay!!

'course, you could always try one of THESE - but I am biased :augie

Neat solution - never noticed your thread in 'vendors' :thumb2

I could think of lots of uses for those waterproof two pin connectors - I'll have to search them out.

I put an eBay 12v cig socket in the shade of the Airoflow screen on my 11GS.

I tried the normal cheap extender but fried the sat nav fuse with an intemittent connection. It's easy to fit an extended socket and easy to fit another BMW socket if that is what you want.

Matt,
Search for AMP Superseal, they come in 1,2,3,4 and 6 ways and will handle arround 14A per terminal:thumb
