hey all, my '52plate 1150GS has now done 75,000 miles and with the winter coming and the prospect of another year of commuting through all weathers I figured I should fit some extra spotlights... any suggestions regarding type, fittings etc would be very much appreciated! cheers Rob :bounce1

get in touch with hid50 on this site
he can do you various options including mounts
the 35w hid sets he does are very good
I have hid's for my main and dip that I find very good, best mod I have done
for my use the bike use at night is transformed
the spread of light with the auxiliaries is great
you have other options of course but this works for me

I used these on my GS, far more effective than the Hella FF50's they replaced.
Bought on eBay and shipped from China, they arrived in just a few days and proved to be totally reliable.

these look very interesting bigAl.. can you give me a spec or manufacturers details? can't see any name on the photo so difficult to source or search them. cheers Rob

These aren't the people I bought mine from but they are the same light (mine were from China and free P&P) but you can see what they are like and the sort of price. This is a twin pack.
eBay item number: 261180987038.

This one is from China, same light but different seller.
This is a single.
eBay item number: 281443363700.

Can't recommend them highly enough. Being unbranded they were a bit of a gamble but had them for about 12-months (until I sold the bike) and they were faultless. The depth & spread of light was very impressive and the bonus is that each unit is only 20W compared to the 55W of a halogen.

My 5" cast aluminium 3500 lm babies arrived today.

Speaking to Vern ref mounting options, watch this space, just waiting for it to go dark to see what they are like

The quality of the casing is unbelievable for the price.

I use hella Micro de lamps but I use 35w lamps rather than 55w but to be honest the light pattern is not that great. I use them more for DRL's than for boosting the light spread of the dipped beam.

If it's high beam fun you want, these new 5" puppies are excellent

Been out tonight to test them, fook they are bright!

Good distance on them too.

I've got some of these as well, also on an early Migsel bar. They're excellent, make a country lane at night look like daytime.

How are they at speed on an open road?

Could you let us know which make/model you bought?

They're very good on an open road, but depending on where you are and how much traffic there is you might not get too much chance to use them, as they're so bright they dazzle oncoming traffic. Excellent for spotting nocturnal animals on unlit roads, though.
