auxilliary spot lights on a budget

for all of those people like me who are G.S ing on a shoestring heres a wee alternative to those expensive Touratech lights and brackets that cost an arm and a leg ,,,

RING LUMINATOR 3 LAMPS-- these lamps are sold as 12v fog lamps and have a sort of fish eye prism lens . £ 30.00 per pair - see pics

step 2 ,,

lighting bracket ... purchase 1 x 500mm length of aluminium flatbar on e'bay . mark and drill holes with a fine drill bit , then countersink with a larger drill bit to give a nice pattern . remove 2 screws holding oil cooler ( under front mudguard ) mark and drill corresponding holes in flatbar , then fit flatbar to bike using these 2 screws .... hey presto spotlights and bracket ,,,, total cost ,,, £ 43.00

flatbar £ 8
12v relay and wiring £5

WORKS FOR ME !!!!

I use them too they have a horizontal cut off and tend not to blind oncoming traffic if they are set correctly

been using these for ages, not bad, just ok, and the paint on them falls off, but then you can polish them up.

would you do me a wee favour kirky ,,would you post a diagram/description of how you wired them up keep it as simple as you can ,,have a set here but no got a clue when it comes to electrickery ...cheers gord

the best thing to do is google spotlight wiring diagram ,
buy a 12v spotlight relay from your local motor factors and the wiring diagram will be on the packaging , its dead easy mate , all you need is a live feed and earth from the battery ,, a feed via the relay to the 2 spots and a trigger wire from the existing lighting circuit ,, just take your time and make up a wee wiring harness , things you'll need are wiring , relay , spade connectors . round eye connectors , insulating tape , preferrably , use a soldering iron for your joints and connectors and use a volt meter to locate the live feed in your lighting circuit failing that get a spark to wire em up , shouldnt be too expensive

Good lights

I had a set fitted when we rode to Bulgaria last year
They realy lit up those dark Romanian back roads.

I had a piggy back set up with a set of spot lights that local park patrol cops use on there drz's

only cost a tenner, (bought second hand ) A made the light bar mesen ,n wi help wired them up to run through a waterproof switch via a relay set up.

Now fitted a different set up , two 5" spots mounted on engine bars and 2x driving lights on light bar..

This set up gives allot more light to the points on the road that needs to be lit up.
