Average throttle position

Hi guys.
I have a 2016 1200 that now has 37k miles on the clock. I ride in a spirited manner, very rarely letting the revs drop below 4,000. Ever since i got the bike my average throttle position on the garmin has been either 12 or 13%. It doesnt matter where i go, or who i ride with, never alters.
This weekend I've been up to Newton Stewart and back with my pal, he has just got a brand new GSA with 700 miles on it when we left Sunday morning. So i led all the way, 600 miles, only about 50 of those miles on dual carraige way or A road, all the rest on the best twisties. So we rode together never seperated by more than a car or maybe 50m.
So here's the strange part. My pal is also riding the bike above about 3500 rpm up to about 7000, and his average throttle position is 20% !!
He told me this after the ride up, so i made sure he zero'd it for today's run home, and again 20%. Why would that be? Is it a shift cam thing? What do you guys get?

Wank material, just like lean angle.

It will eventually average at 13% just like everybody else here.
 
What makes you say that? Why would it "eventually average" 13% when he zero'd it this morning then rode 300 miles and it says 20%

Can anybody with a 1250 offer any info?
 
6 years of owning one and it is on the bike data in the satnav for those who don't care.

And this matters why? Do you ride and then download the data to an Excel spreadsheet? Ride the thing!
 
Foot pegs and engine guards give the best indication of lean angle - tyres are pretty good too.
 
As I said, wank material, like lean angle. It is nonsense not worth a penny to the road rider.

Looks more like cock measuring to me, who can ride like the biggest dick on the road. Lots of them on here. Next thing you know somebody will want to know how to mount or dismount his awesome twipple back steed.

Anyway, it has been discussed on the forum before .

Try both bike on autopilot over distance, and see if give same result, if result not same, have coffee and enjoy the day better. :beerjug:

Come on guys, it not wank material or cock measuring. I was simply trying to work out why a 1200 lc does 600 miles at 13% and a 1250 states 20% on the same run at the same speeds.

Tbh without a graph you won't know. Smoother riders tend to use less throttle to keep a reasonable average. Then again, who was leading and who was following also makes a difference. The rear rider using more throttle to keep up.

If it’s that important to you - suggest you maybe contact BMW Motorrad for an explanation...
 
Possible new Bmw-gate to make think 1250 is a lot faster, all is possible here and truth will be fabricated sheep will follow
 
Perhaps it’s due to the new bike still not being fully bedded in. So has more friction losses and need more throttle to achieve the same speed.
