When I downloaded AVG Anti Virus (free edition) I also downloaded the "free" anti spyware. Now I find this free trial period - (didn't realise that) has expired. Seems to have found things that AVG AV didn't, but I'm no computer "bod" so may not have been anything much - recall saying "moderate risk" in some cookies. Is it worth buying  the ASW or is there a good free version of that as well?

Any thoughts of the more initiated appreciated.

Thanks

Ade

if you just want something to help with spyware and the likes get spybot search and destroy, its free ( but a donation is a good thing) and is regularly updated. Not only does it scan for threats but imunises your machine agsint spyware as well.

+1 on what Rhino said.

Another good freebie is AdAware from Lavasoft.

All the PC's at Yoda Towers have: AVG, AdAware, ZoneAlarm and MediaMonkey. All free, all great products. :thumb

adaware is a good one as well> I actualy run both in a belts and brace sort of style for when things get a little busy on the outbreak front. Every once in a while one of them will pick up something the other missed. But wheer as you need to pay to get the full suite of tools adaware offers spybot is fully functional out of the box.
