Netherthong. Yes, really.
I've downloaded a few films / TV progs recently (all as .avi files) and I need to clear them off the drive. I'd rather burn them to dvd than sit and watch them in the office (so that SWMBO can enjoy them as well - they're not porn!! :D ), but I can't decide which software to use. There seem to be loads of converters on the market, but has anyone got any advice on which ones are good & which to avoid?

It's so easy working with audio files / codecs - I assumed it would be a simple matter to do the same with video :nenau

Cheers!

ps - price is irrelevant, as long as it's cheap or free ;)

go out and but a cheap divx player saves all the time and hassle converting

just copy the avi to disc and play

Thanks guys. I may end up waiting until after christmas, as I think we might be getting a new dvd player. Tuned In, do you know if they all handle divx nowadays, or do I need to tell santa exactly what I want? The one I'm using at the moment is a cheap Matsui (maybe 4 years old?) which only handles 'normal' dvds...

A lot of the cheapest of the cheap DVD players play DIV X nowadays.

Even the Lidl & ALDI ones for 30 quid will do the job..

In fact some of the really cheap ones are less choosey about the files they play than the more expensive ones with fancy copyright protection..

I got a 200quid Pioneer home cinema from Richer sounds and it plays all the stuff I download and had great sound..
