Had renewal for one of my aged cars through a couple of days ago, gone from £214 to £330 (avivaonline).

Bennett’s sent renewal through for my 2013 Bonneville, £75 last year, £116 now….

Both policies will be moving to other brokers, Devitt quoted the Bonneville at £55 with Ageas and Saga will cover the car for £220.

I thought vehicle insurance was supposed to be coming down in price?

I've moved our car insurance last year to Aviva after binning Saga after they put the prices up dramatically. This year my insurance went down while SWMBOs went up, but they were still competitive so we stayed with them. Just had our house insurance renewal from Saga at the end of a 3 year fixed deal. That's gone up from £280, to £590. Similar cover from Aviva quoted at £312 for their premium cover. I rang Saga up to cancel and they wanted to try and improve the quote by offering a lesser cover but I politely refused saying it was unlikely they'd get close based on what they've quoted so far and they should have tried that before asking for nearly 600 quid. So more business for Aviva. It's a ball ache but it does pay to shop around and if your existing insurer is in the same ball park to ring them up to see what they'll do as they will often come up with a better price to keep your business

Had my Aviva car insurance renewal through last week.
2014 Audi Q3 fully comp for £215, was £287 last year.

A mate had received a letter from Aviva direct saying they would not renew his bike policy, no changes on his behalf during the year, so could not see why. He was offered an Aviva policy via several brokers though.
Our Aviva camper van policy has gone from £557 last year to £461 now, go figure !

Aviva Direct is a broker and they pulled out of the bike business. It was not personal!

Aviva's underwriting division is still happy to sell policies on a wholesale basis to other brokers.

Whilst these companies share a brand name and ultimate owner, they are separate businesses and I guess they were not making enough margin from bikes in the brokerage. Whereas selling policies wholesale, where the brokers do the donkey work, makes them money.

Mrs, Blackblade's car insurance is due also, and is currently with Aviva. She doesn't have full no claims, as was previously on one of my policies, but now on her own, so this renewal also has another years NCB:

I have four different vehicles and they soon will be all insured with aviva just had a renewal quote come through on compare the market for a 2022 Honda Goldwing and they were quoting £202.00 I thought for that price it would be a mickey mouse company but no it is Aviva. The same thing has happened with the other three vehicles each time Aviva has been the cheapest.

The week before last Martin Lewis ran a car and house insurance special. Using something like a sample of 50,000 policy quotations tracked over five or so years , both sets of premiums were drifting down. His starting point was “ if you receive a renewal that is the same as last year you are being overcharged! “ simple as. He urged folk to challenge both house and motor insurance. The programme is on ITV so catch up on ITV X

My AXA home and contents went form £580 a year including a few extras like e bike and watches to £1,356……..off you fuck..

Fair enough. I did compare the market for Mrs. Blackblade’s renewal and Aviva weren’t even quoted.

Seems so, Aviva renewal via Devitt is £359.
Hastings, with Topcashback rebate will be about £183
