I took my '05 1150GS-A in for its 80K service - it was running like a good thing, and I had no complaints, except the very uncomfortable pillion seat.

After dropping it off, I took a wander through the showroom, where I was waylaid and set upon by a crafty villian proporting to be a 'sales assistant'.

Next think you know, I'm riding out of there on a brand new 1200GS ESA !

What a rotten trip to play on a chap ! 45 kg less weight and 20 more HP too !

So children, stay out of the showroom or you could be the next victim !

you have been warned !

I went to a BMW showroom recently - I pick up my new GS next Friday!

think the next showroom i walk into will be Triumph's
That was the one I went to before BMW's. It was a close run thing between a Tiger and a GS, but the GS won.

Oh sheit - these are not the types of threads & comments I want to read....

Have ordered a new GSa full spec..... correction - have ordered 2 x GSa's (one for a mate) for delivery on 10th Dec......:drool

the countdown begins................... :augie

Same thing happened to me 3 months ago, I only went along with my mate as he wanted a test ride on GS 12.
I was perfectly happy with my Fazer FZ1 (even though my missus wasn't keen) and was never going to buy a BM.
The salesman asked if I wanted to try one as my mate was going out, so I thought "why not, just for a change, it's not as if I'm going to buy one"

A couple of test rides later I was hooked, my missus loved it on the back and 3 days later I'm putting a deposit on a 57 plate GS 12 with full luggage.

So I totally agree BMW dealerships are BLOODY DANGEROUS and should come with a warning!!!
Seriously, Wollaston BMW in Northampton have been fantastic and really looked after me with the extra bits I wanted for the bike.
So although I loved my Fazer I think the GS is going to be even better.:bounce1

Cheers

Hey lads that's what they are there for:)

Come service time a descent dealer will never give you some old crap like many non dealer garages do, they want to "plant the seed" or "create the desire". Many years ago i was having a service done on my 11GS and i got to play as an instructor on an 1150GS when they 1st appeared. Not lurching round U-turns and out of T junctions nearly did it for me but the trade in was CRRAAAP.

It was a better bike but i still liked mine and i "owned" it. £500 of pipes and chips later and it was virtually the same.

Another time they gave me a cruiser and after decking the zaust on the 1st major corner I thought never again!

I later worked for the same dealer and used the same "dirty tricks". You guys may not get the same on your 600 mile service however as the big demos have already done their job and are entising someone else. At least you can't get the C1 these days!!:thumb

Happened to me two weeks ago.. the buggers :blast quite happy on my 2007 GSA and they had to let me try out the ESA, new gearbox and 5 more horses... I thought you couldn't get any better..but you can :JB

Me too...

North Oxford Garage caught me like this in 2007 (thanks, Alex!). I've put 13k miles on my GS since then. Some guilt lingers on, but no regrets!
