Avon Trailriders on GSA LC

Anyone had a set of Avon Trailriders on their GSA(LC) recently?

I'm needing a new set of boots in the next couple of weeks and was going straight for my usual Anakee 3 (yes, I know they're noisy etc, but I like them) but am tempted by the Avon's they remind me a bit of the old Anakee 2, another good tyre IMO.

New Michelin road 5 trail are out, I like my Anakee,s also, but will give the new one,s a try soon.

Oddshapedballs, Ive had them on a standard GS great tyre rear lasted about 8k front a lot longer. They squared off like most other makes because most of my journeys are to and from work on an A road. Very good in both dry and wet, I feel that they are as good as Anakee 3. IMO they look better on a GS as they have more of an off road look. I also feel that they felt more stable than the Anakee's. If you have read the forum lately there has been a thread about the Pirelli Scorpions they also look good. Tyre are a very personal thing, give the Avons a try. Hope this helps.

Had them on the gsa, found that I had to run 2psi over recommended to get better feel.

With the Road 5, there's a deal on where, on purchase of a pair of tyres, you can get a "free" track day.

I think that Avon's are slightly noisier than the PR4T grip is similar in dry, PR4T just edge them in the wet, warm up quicker. Life expectancy about the same.

In balance, which is closer stockist and who has best deal is probably a better decision.

Unless you really want Road 5T, go for PR4T and spend the money saved enjoying yourself.

Ive got trialriders on my GS

Dry grip is very good, as is wet grip

went into a roundabout i knew a little faster than i wouldnormally go for wet conditions,

Trust the tyres they say, so i did once loaded they gripped as good as i could hope for

I'd have them again

Excellent tyres much better than the Annakees or PR4 Trails I had on my last GSA LC

Did the whole PR4 thing, for me; amazing when new, shit after 2k...nuff said.

A3's on my 2014 GSA TE were horrendous (x2 rears were written off by punctures at under 1000 miles ) they were noisy (on the Autobahn they howled like a landrover on off road tyres) and they were shocking in the wet .

However , they were fitted on my new GSA Basic non ESA bike when I picked it up last September and the ones on this bike are almost silent and reasonably grippy even in the wet but it may have more to do with the new bikes suspension giving them an easier time. The rear looks about 1/2 worn at 1500 miles so will need changing before my Alp trip this summer

Have trail riders on my lc Gs, easily as good as pr4, App 4500 miles which is more than i usually get ,Still 2.5 at rear and no uneven wear/ feathering on the edges like pr4, would fit them again,
I would fit them again but got the standard tourances dirt cheap so going to them as really good previous experience with them as well,
