AWOL again and off to Lake District

Planned to have a run out on Friday but work got in the way. Sod it, working Saturday till 12noon. Mmmmmmm weathers fantastic.
Time to go Awol.
Bike prepped early morning, gear laid out, lunch made.
Home at 12.15 fed and watered, clobbered up and away, pick up fuel. Leaving Sheffield at 1pm. Arrive in Ambleside 3.15pm.

Top of Windemere





Pickup the B5343 road to, ChapelStile and Langdale.

Then follow Side Gates Road toward Blea Tarn and The Stallion Pass /Wrynose.








Onto the Wrynose and a strong whiff of 2 stroke. Mmmmmm
Lots of scooters.

Going Down







Dropping off the Hardknott , passing the now closed Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, pickup the Birkby back road.

Onto the A595 , what a grand road with little traffic on, really make progress here.
Quickly back to the Motorway and away home. Back for 8pm. Lovely Day.

I think we passed you on the RT going in the opposite direction :thumb2

I did it in a day from west oxon going over the passes with a mate, we were on RT's.
Got home at 9.30 pm having cover 496 miles. Great day out and we were blessed with good weather.

Sven remember seeing an RT, ee by gum theres some dodgy potholes and those steep cambers are more exciting after winter. What a day though.:thumby:

Nutty GSER . 300 mile round trip for me, good mix of roads from 1pm. Why not go up stay over, more pass roads then home. Test your bike out, front wheel will skip all the way up if spirited riding is for you.:D

That looks amazing, certainly on my to do list :thumby:

When time permits I like to run the pass roads both ways. Early am or late afternoon.:bounce1
