Well as I arrived in Inveraray earlier than I thought, and the hotel ( loch fyne) is full of grannies ... Thought I'd go for a little tour...

Inveraray to Lochgilphead, followed the A816 until B840, what a great road, well single track, proper GS territory.... Approx 21 miles of fun... Plus a fast road (A819) back to Inveraray.... In total about 67 miles.

Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday afternoon....!! O.... And now 2 days off road with MotoScotland....:bounce1

Must go.... As I'm on my own.... Beer with the grannies is calling.....:jager

A819 is a good road, BUT the A85 towards Tyndrum from Dalmally is a great road, fast and smooth. A great run from Inveraray and back..............

You should have taken the forest road from the B840 back over to Inveraray. Maybe not well signposted.

Disappointed...

Think I saw it, but no road signs... So wasn't sure.... But still great road.... Just been watching my video footage....

There are some brilliant roads and tracks round here ( 'there' to be accurate as I'm currently in Kerry)

Enjoy.

Coming back from Fort William we headed to Inveraray along this road with a nice castle on the right.... is that the B840 ? Edit... I think its the A819

It were a cracking road anyway

The B840 is the 24 odd mile single track road that runs along the south side of Loch Awe - and is a good GS road with loads of loch side wild camping options, in between all the fish murderers..

Argyll is blessed with many, many good roads and tracks which are slowly being discovered by the biking fraternity.

Well.... This is what the sign says....

What can I say.... Very confused...( easily done ).... Still a great road....

The Dalavich road is not too shabby either.... Allegedly you can turn off to the left up a track to the new wind farm and turning left again will bring you back out a couple of miles back up the hill behind you.
28 k off-road...

I have family in Campbeltown (my fathers side) and I keep saying I really must get up there on the bike. I am sure it hasn't changed since I went as a kid for our summer hol's, but would make a great trip on the bike!!!
