I sold my xCountry in Argentina, and have now bought a KTM 950 Adenture.

Was having a bit of a clear out and found some xCountry bits that I'd like to swap for a pub beer (plus postage).

Seems I have a airbox lid, OEM rack plate (scratched), OEM shift lever, Funduro gear lever, and an f650 Dakar brake pedal.

Also got a tatty owners manual (the small OEM booklet one) free to anyone who wants it.

If anyone is interested in my trip, and wants to contact me, my blog is at http://defylife.co.uk

Hi Mike,

I would very much like the rack plate if you still have it please.

I will get in touch through your site,

Thanks, Dermot

So is the Ktm 950 better than the 650X

Responded to an email about the brake pedal and shift lever. Not heard anything yet about the rack plate.

The 950 Adventure is a lot more bike. It's strange, when it arrived I was thinking 'man, that's big' but when I was in Cusco I had the xCountry parked next to a 950, the xCountry was similar in diamensions. There's just a lot more stuff/bodywork on the 950 that makes it look so large.

It's better balanced on the move than the xCountry was, very easy to wheel around, but a lot more front heavy. That's on thing I don't like. The weight (+70kg) is lower down, so it's easier to pick up, and it's way better suspended. Fuel economy is poor as you'd expect, though I still got over 40mpg around town on cold starts which isn't far off the xCountry. It's just a lot more robust and ready for adventure. Not better, not worse, just different. I picked it up for less than £3,500 with 29k on the clock but with a 2006 engine with only 9k on it. Very very easy to spend £1,000s on farkles. Already a grand in so far.

Now back on the subject of the xCountry, I found the following in the loft:

OEM bash plate (plastic)
Right-hand side Highway Dirtbags pannier rail

Interested in the Right-hand side Highway Dirtbags pannier rail and funduro gear change could not PM

Not to worry. You can email me through my site.

The right-hand side rail is in good condition and can be shipped in the original box. Not looking for much, just want to clear out the old stuff, so make way for the all the bits I'm taking off the KTM.

Ah, hot a few from other people but not that one. It's yours if you want it.

Are you based in Ireland? Not sure what postage will be. It'd be £3 postage via Royal Mail small parcels in the UK. Probably a bit more to your neck of the woods. I'm actually doing a tour of Ireland end of May start of June.

Anyway, I've added my email address to my contact page now - http://defylife.co.uk/contact/

Sent another message via contact page.
Whats gone ?

Luggage plate available to next person.

I am out (dragons den style)
