Ive noticed some oil residue around my oil filler cap (GS 1100 1997),when I start the bike up and take the cap off air puffs quite alarmingly out the filler hole,what do you fellas suggest ,bike runs sweet but this is got me thinking Ive got problems.

normal, caused by those large pistons displacing air in the crankcase, sounds like you need a new filler plug o ring

Check crank case breather is not blocked.
