I just bagged myself an aerostich off ebay, great suit. The only thing is there is no back protector fitted, (nor hip protectors). Does anybody have suggestions for sourcing one or both of these without paying the massive postage and duty incurred by buying from the states?

The 'stitch armour is nothing special*......I'd go through old jackets/trousers and see if any of the bits from those fit.

As long as it goes in and doesn't move about, it's fine :thumb2

(and if it's from an old outfit, you could trim it down with a pair of snips :nenau)

* in fact I think it's just shaped foam pads actually.....Mine's at work so I can't look, but someone else may be able to take a piccy :thumb2

had both in previous suits, the hip protectors hinder acess to your trousers through the side zips and also move about and the back protector sticks in your back and gets really uncomfortable after a few hours, just my experance, cant be arsed to go and have a look but I think its just held in with velcro like the hips

I had this quandry (the back protector) with a new Dane jacket that I bought. The foam/pocket was very wierd shape (like a cross shape) then I found out about this company that are highly regarded. They do the Pro Back Insert in loads of different shapes so if you can find a dealer you might be in luck. Very high quality stuff:

Hip inserts you can get from Hein Gericke.

That is all you get from Aerostich, sponge, velcro and thin bit of plastic. Sure you could easily may one up.
