Back Protectors EN 1621.2/2003

I am trying to work out if the Level 1 or Level 2 of this standard is the best. The definition of the standard is as follows:

"Level 1 protectors: The average peak force recorded below the anvil in the tests shall be below 18 kN, and no single value shall exceed 24 kN.

Level 2 protectors: The average peak force recorded below the anvil in the tests shall be below 9 kN, and no single value shall exceed 12 kN."

which suggests that the tests for Level 1 are harder, but I have spoken to people and read something that states that Level 2 is best.

Anybody have any thoughts about this one ?

Oh hang on I read this again and it makes sense is saying that the Level 2 means that less force is placed on the thing when the test it performed - this makes sense. Would this make any difference in reality ?

level 2 is better
the the kn rating are how much force transmitted though in the event of an impact(if you crash)

In terms of the ability to absorb and dissipate impact energy, this is probably the best......

This is for a protector to go in a jacket - am buying a new jacket with the crappy foam job, but was looking at the two protectors that Dainese do. As long as it fits I will go for the Sheild Air (Level 2) instead of the Wave (Level 1)
