Does anyone know if the Vario system for the topbox (reducing the capacity) works properly with the genuine BMW backrest ?

It works fine but the height of the pads changes with the box's height.

another question: are your passengers happy with this backrest it is it really useless ? can the passenger's back lean against the topbox without any problems (damaging or losing it ) ?

My wife found that with the topcase in it's 'small' mode, the back protector in her Tourguard jacket rode upwards over the backrest and was very uncomforatable.

With the topcase in expanded mode the backrest was so much higher and caused no such problem.....

She leans slightly on the backrest & we've had no problems with the case coming off......she's done about 5000 miles as pillion.....
