Backround noise?

My wife made a little video clip on the digital recently and when i played it back she had recorded the sound of a road drill in the background.
Now i wont go on about dumb blondes here but the answer was 'I did not think it would pick it up'
A ROAD DRILL FOR CHRIST SAKE!!

Anyway is there a way i can edit the backround of the drill out without loosing the forground talking in the clip in Media player on XP.

Could try the graphic equaliser to see if you can reduce the drill noise in Media Player or maybe the software with the video has some enhancements for sound. Other than that, you will need some sort of audio filtering program, but thats where I get lost
