Some of you who frequent ADV Rider may know about Bacon the ADV mascot who is travelling around the world............. Details here.

Bacon arrived late on Saturday morning from the Isle of Skye, so after a wee rest he headed out today for his first look at Ireland.

I had to into work on an errand so the porker came with me.

So I took him into one of the trucks for a look around.

He was a little small to attempt to drive one though.

Mandy and I had to go to Portadown in County Armagh this afternoon, so we took Bacon for the drive. Here he is paying tribute to one of the best soccer players ever to come out if Ireland, George Best.

More to come in the next few days.

he's not wearing national costume :(

Sackcloth is shortly going to be reinstated as the national costume after several years of Armani. I think Aidan's just waiting for the official announcement before he commits financially ;)

I must apologise that nothing has been heard of Bacon this week. My best friend of 28 years lost his mother this week after a seven year battle with Altzheimers, so I have been somewhat preoccupied. :(

Anyway, Kyle had suggested a wee run out today to get to know his (new to him) 950S KTM, so Bacon and I set off in icy conditions this morning to meet up.

Seven riders turned up for the run, here are a few of them, Will, Kyle, David and Harry.

Our meeting place was the City Hall in the centre of Belfast.

It is a fine Victorian building,

Our original idea had been to ride the Antrim coast road up to the north coast, but David and Harry had tales of snow on the roads, so we chickened out and decided instead to ride south along the east coast. Mzokk stepped forward to lead us on. :thumb2

This boat is an old light vessel which used to be stationed at Ireland's most northerly point, Malin Head but is now retired to Ballydorn.

We rode on to St John's Point near Coney Island which is featured in a Van Morrison song of the same name.

It was cold (3C) and windy with a big swell running on the sea.

After some tea in Newcastle, the group split up to head off for home Kyle and I took Bacon for a run through the Mourne Mountains to Spelga Dam.

A grand wee ride with some new faces turning out. It was good to meet Sam and Harry. :thumb2

Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next weekend as Bacon will be out for his last run in Ireland before he heads back to England.

Get a helmet for that wee pig or he'll end up as a ham sandwich.

How do we know he's in Ireland ?? he's not wearing national costume :(

Get the wee guy a leprechaun suit :aidan

Point of order Proff..... he was in Northern Ireland and we don't have a national costume. We do have a national head-dress though.

Aiden, get a photo of him with his balaclava on

You guys need a picture of Bacon in a pub, on the bar, next to a pint.

That will the pic of the RTW tour
