what a bad idea to have the fuel pumps sitting in a well where water can gather round the electric connecter's .anyone tried anything to protect the connectors .

The bikes have many examples of poor design. Get used to it. I used red rubber grease on the fuel pump controller.
A candle wick pulled through some neoprene tube will draw away water. Zip tie a short length so one end is dipped into the lowest point of the fuel pump housing.

As Snooty says, slap loads of dielectric grease on it and relax (just like your arsehole). :D

As previously suggested, I put some parcel string in the well, thread it through a small hole I drilled in the cap and drop the end over the side. It acts like a wick and never had any water ingress in 6 years and 100k miles.
Oh and a liberal coat of Vaseline and ACF 50:thumb2

On the upper left hand side of the tank on a 1200GS (not sure where it is on a GSA) under a round cover that is about 6" in diameter. Follow the fuel line and wires. The round cover simply lifts off. Under there you will find the fuel pump controller sat in a round recess that resembles a well.
