Please could you advise on the following.

I have a 2002 Adv and went to go for run out last night with trusty GS and t,other half.

Bike had drained battery so after removing optimiser and refixing tank in place flashed the Adv up to find running a little rough. Left it running for a while dropped choke only for bike to die.

Decided a quick blast was required so jumped on run round the old block to return to find still not running at all as should and still cutting out without choke.

Doulble checked fuel lines not snagged crushed after replacing tank and then run up again.

Next bit concerned me... Whilst tweakin throtle and watching revs other half spot CAT red hot and heat is effecting rear tyre. Swithed engine off and cooled with garden hose.

Your thoughts please.

Any thoughts before I ring BM garage.
Last out on major run bout 5 weeks ago but have run up in garage no prob

Hi Andy,

I'm 99% sure it's your throttle cable.

It's probably looking like this:

This is behind the throttle bodies, above the cylinders, left and right.

And it should look like this:

Fixing it takes about 10 seconds. You're not the first, you won't be the last ;)

Cheers,
Michel

Since you've had the tank off make sure the RH throttle cable is sitting in it's adjuster correctly.

I haven't got a cat but they do run hot so if the bike was idling for a time I wouldn't be surprised if it did glow.

Russ.

Found it yet Andy, or did the whole thing explode and take you out? :D

Did you re set the throttle after fitting the new battery?

Ignition on, a couple of full twists of the throttle then start the bike.
