Hi

Due to leave for garmisch on Wednesday and my mates DOHC GSA has got a problem.

It was running ok and he had two new tyres fitted. They didn't balance them properly and they had to be taken off and done again.

This may just be coincidence but the bike has started vibrating really bad since whilst riding along. This stops when the Clutch is pulled and seems to peak about 5500RPM.

My initial thought was a coil stick, so we will try to test that this pm. Has anyone got any other suggestions please or had similar symptoms they could relay?

If one coil has failed the other wont be far behind. I struggled to diagnose mine because both were going down.

Hi

Do the symptoms sound similar to your failing coil?

Bill

Yes. Vibes go when engine isnt driving so it cant be mechanical. Pull the primary coil leads and see what differences they make.

If the engine runs the same you've found a dodgy coil. If it runs worse you've disconnected a working coil.

Mine had the old black coils. They smelt burnt but had no obvious swellings or spark marks on the casing.
