Such a shame this thread was hidden away when I went for a Kahedo seat. Don't get me wrong mine is good, but two seats with heat for the same as one plain Kahedo is a no brainer. So thanks indeed for the resurrection.

i always get a sweaty arse, even in winter. I cant understand the need for a heated seat

If you use gortex trousers you may get a sweaty, wet arse.
The K1600GT I had last year had a heated seat with five heat levels. It was ok but not sure it's necessary.
Was having trouble with my riding gear leaking and was warned that heated seats can turn the water to vapour which then passes through the gortex membrane.
My trousers did actually have a leak so wasn't a problem but something to remember.
Believe same thing can happen with gortex gloves and heated grips.

I had a look at their website and couldn't see a 1200GS or GSA seat listed.

My GSA grips get warm but never hot. Oxford hot grips (on other bikes) got decidedly hot but I've not had a problem with Hein Gericke gloves. The water vapour issue makes sense for the seat - larger surface area.
