Have just noted on the MCN web site they are asking for comments on riders who have installed systems with removeable baffles, such as the Remus revolution !! 'E' marked so look legal to prying eyes :D

If you enter your thoughts you may win a prize !!!!;)

For the record I have taken my baffle out, put the thing back in and cannot really make up my mind which way I like it best. I find it not as harsh with the baffle in, and have not noticed any performance loss with the baffle back in, so thats the way i'll keep it, at the Mo !

I have a Remus revolution race can. Does it have removeable baffles?

Its usually me thats baffeld not the exhaust

Remus Revolution - baffle in : lots of high frequency noise, very 'raspy', seems to strangle the motor at high RPM; baffle out: very mellow, bit 'boomy' but fairly quiet, motor breathes better. Mine is out for good, now. Pillion definitely prefers sound with baffle out - she says it's quieter!

Got to agree with Rooster - gi yer baffle oot!
With it in it's very raspy and painfull to the ears.

The booming you get without it sounds great going through tunnels! (although not as nice as my Ducati...) :D

Cheers,
Finbarr

Has your pillion commented on whether the Revelution is any warmer than the old Genesis?
Mine is adamant (stand and deliver was his best) that her left leg is warmer with the Revelution fitted and baffle out - my melted underside of the left hand rear indicator would appear to agree also
Sherpa ;)

Just done a few miles since removing the baffle from my alloy revolution for the first time.

After getting off the bike in the garage, my Immediate sensation was that the whole system was a LOT hotter than with the baffle in. What's that all about??

I've done 1 mile with the baffle in....and 6999 with it out:D Oh the noise - fantastic. I am however lightly charring my left indicator.

s'obvious really......

baffle in, gases go round the can twice before exiting, therefore heat is transferred for three times longer to metal of can and mount.

Baffle out, gases go out in a straight line, so minimal heat transfer.

And a better sound.

Next??

:D :D :D

First impressions are also less surging than with baffle in (with steptoe link)

Old guy across the road commented that it brought back memories of Spitfires flying over in the 2WW.:D

My bum-dyno suggested I got better power lower down with baffle in - with the 'band' moving up the rev-range with the baffle out. Summat to do with back pressure I assume...

BUT...

Baffle in - cannot bear the raspy noise, baffle out, sounds much nicer, so baffle out it is for me, and just enjoy using more revs!!

I can see that ya know.....

I get a couple of days a year when we have Spitfires come over the house for Biggin Hill and sometimes the Southend air shows.

It's a very low, throbbing torque filled sound..... BWM boxer may not be that similar to a v12 Merlin but the sound in the air is similar.

How the fekk does that work???

baffle in for me. lovely raspy sound, hint of alfa romeo.

baffle out, 'kin awful uncouth bellow. sounds like a mk 1 escort with the exhaust hanging off at the manifold.
no performance gain that i can detect.

S'funny one this, re-visiting this thread after so long.

I put the original can back on for a tour of Ireland last year and was immediately struck at the increase in mid-range grunt (bum-dyno; I know  ).
Back from Ireland, I put the Remus back on and was surprised at the amount of mid-range I'd lost. Before someone points it out, yes, I know I should get the thing dyno-ed and set up proper for the Remus (it's got a Techlusion), but frankly, I can't be arsed at the moment. Besides which, the Techlusion was bum-dynoed WITH the Remus and I thought I'd got it right.
The bike now wears the standard can. Anyone wanna buy a Remus?
