baglux tank bags.....how waterproof?

Water gets in really easily without the 'shower cap', especially the map pocket that seems to get wet in the lightest shower, however, the shower cap performs brilliantly, even in the heaviest of showers.

My mates can confirm this after having to empty their tank bags and dry everything out while I was the only smart arse to put the shower cap on 'cos I though it might rain when we got over the Col :D

With the 'shower cap' on my bag was dry even through that rain in Holland on our way to the ferry. Mr Ifan was not hanging about:D :D

Been using Baglux for 15 years now. Covers for both bikes 1150gs and FJ1200 one set of bags. Small, medium and both zipped together on the FJ. (the tank is too high for both on the GS but you can get a helmet in the medium bag - great when you go to pick someone up) The Zips let the water in but not too bad only ever damp inside not pools of water, but bad for mobile phones maps etc. - use the rain cover.
Spraying the zips with the stuff you waterproof tents, clothing etc (I used Nikwax) helps but it still gets damp inside and condesation forms in the map pocket. I have not got a rain cover, so Anything that matters goes in bags. Still great kit though.

Just aquired a baglux cover and a groovy grey tank bag....for the Adv.
I was wondering how waterproof the bags are? I know it has a raincover with it ....but I hate shower caps!!

your experiences please!!

Gavin

you could always put your gear in a roll up dry bag

loads of different sizes to fit inside tank bags

no worries about getting caught in the rain
