The map pocket, if previous incarnations of BMW tankbags are anything to go by, is useless; unable to take a simple sheet of A4. Awkward to slot maps into, too.

Designed for the GPS world.

If you are worried about the rest of the bag leaking, put your valuables, sweets and money into a plastic bag.

BMW bag is waterproof using the dry bag bit but as Wapping says the map pocket is next to bloody useless. It's waterproof but I'll defy anyone to find a map of the right size to fit. The older BMW large bag was much bigger.

I find the map pocket okay: my maps go in okay, although I do have to take a bit of care sliding them in.

Waterproof? The main bag seems to be. But the map pocket does seem to suffer from some major "condensation" around the edges

Agreed, Main compartment, dry as a bone, map pocket suffers serious condensation.

Yes, inside is dry, but map pocket is useless. It stays damp for hours. Had to take one of wife's tissues to help with condensation

Concur with the above - I have the 2014 GSA large tank bag & have just come back from a tour around Greece. The main bag is waterproof, but the map pocket is pretty poor and not as good as my old 2009 GSA tank bag. The map pocket was only subjected to a couple of showers travelling down through France, and pretty much soaked the maps contained in the pocket. As also mentioned, getting maps to fit inside is also not very practical.

Tank bag

Main compartment fine. Map pocket as useful as the option extra ashtray :D Did fine a generic tank bag cover with clear top on the web for about £6 so problem solved :aidan
