Would one of these be suited to a bike that lives outdoors in all weathers?
The reason I ask is I quite fancy one but wonder whether it would trap and hold water against the tank.
What is the underside of them like?

My 1150 has lived outside for 4 years with a baglux fitted, no probs, but i do use an Oxford breathable bike cover - the 'retro' size - costs about £50 from Hein Gericke.

I use one on my 1150 adv, it lives outside. I generally take it off when due for a service and before re-fitting i give the tank a good clean and polish.

No bad effects yet

TAKE IT OFF WHEN NOT IN USE

I purchased my bike that had lived out doors for a while with a Baglux Tank cover
It was SOAKING WET in the foam, took it off and ONLY FIT IT when Im going on my Travels.

Cheers, that what I suspected.

I have one on my 1150GS that lives outside all the time. Also had one on my old Yam XTZ750 that similarlly lived outside. Never had a probelm with either.

Like Stu, I take it off every so often (about once a year) and clean and polish underneith.

The way I look at it, is that any potential harm it is doing to the tank paint, is way more than offset by the fact that it protects the tank from all manner of scrapes and scratches.

What you do is this.

Take off your lovely pristine tank, polish it with Mr Sheen and stick it in the loft. Then buy a lightly used tank for the daily rough and tumble, that you don't mind dropping your keys/lid/GPS/Spanners on.

Oh look, here's one I've got for sale ....

I have one of these fitted to my SE and only remove it when due for a service. I have just taken it off after 3 months and 9K miles through all different types of weather as well as numerous cleans with jetwash and non jetwash. There were no marks on the tank at all and the foam inside was completly dry....

Go on, get yerself one, you know the SE looks better with it fitted. Most people on this thread seem to have had no problems with it at all.....:thumb
