im in the process of purchasing a bike from the said dealer and have to say im struggling with the whole process. its certainly the most difficult and least smooth of processes and ive dealt with many BMW dealers. Ive actually had dealings with them in the past and that ended not favourably when BMW phoned me to ask about my experience and when i said i thought it wasnt so good, the salesman emailed me and i felt he was confronting me.
i decided to give them another chance and i must say the guy im dealing with now has not done anything wrong and has actually been pretty helpful, but the rest of the dealer has hardly supported him. I was asked to phone to conclude the deal with a colleague of his last week only to be told there wasnt any figures down anywhere and they would call me back. well they didnt and i ended up having to wait for his return.
ive phoned up today and the salesman is not there again and I may need to rearrange the handover due to work commitments, when i was a car salesman i would be in the workshop seeing when the PDI/Service would be done and get back to the customer, even if its not my customer. I was told there was nothing he could do until the salesman returned tomorrow and to email him. my insurance runs out on my current bike saturday and although i realise its me trying to rearrange things, im hardly feeling like its a smooth process.
hopefully the rest of the transaction goes smoothly and if it does i will of course say so

I am really surprised. My purchase was seamless.

If you are having issues, just ask for alistair (or how ever it is spelt), as he heads up the dealership.

I nearly purchased a bike from Alton, the salesman seemed happy to help but no movement on anything, would not swap panniers from one bike to the bike I wanted (was willing to pay) nor would he move on price. No part Ex, I thought I had the upper hand. Ended up buying from Sunderland, got a newer bike, less millage, brand new boxes and delivered to my house down south for less than the bike i would have had from them without boxes.

I turned up on my new bike and spoke to the salesman who said he thought i was wasting his time.

I still go in for a brew and a nosy round and will use them for servicing until the warrantee runs out.

It is your P/x, money and choice. You have the power to go anywhere. I have used NOG (excellent) and Bath Road Bristol (when they could sell new - also excellent). If a dealer has a machine in stock, they can move quickly :D

but when youve cancelled your insurance and taken new one out its going to carry a cost. im not furious, just dont think im asking too much for someone to call me back or sort something if the salesman is away. certainly in the car trade, at every dealer i worked for, the sales manager would go onto the sales system, usually e goodmanners and just bopk a handover in on a free slot. they certainly didnt ask for my approval to do a handover if it meant keeping a customer happy if he can see your free in the morning. im sure BMW arnt still using pen and paper and this should be sortable in order to keep the ball rolling

Perhaps they are happy with the way the process is evolving, confident that the delivery will be OK for Saturday.

All dealers have their ups and downs IME, each will have groups of supporters and doubters.

Ex car salesman! Don't open that can of worms here:D

maybe i am expecting too much because it didnt work like this when i was selling vehicles. i think when a customer has to start doing the chasing then i suspect there are lots of sales a dealer will have lost due to laziness

Phone em up... tell them whats annoying you... see what the response is?... decide on your actions.... either walk away or finish off the deal... simples.

Eggzacakaly :thumb2 and what I did with a certain VW car dealer a month or so ago over the purchase of a new car. They couldn't address the problem to my satisfaction so I went to another dealer who's been great.

The lack of promised return calls seems to endemic these days....in all walks ...

As has been said, it's your dosh...take it elsewhere, I would...:nenau

I have to say I have always had nothing but exceptional service from them, and I am probably a complete wanker to deal with as I always want things done "now". Bought 5 bikes from Barnstormers and when I turned up ranting about a fork seal leaking on my GSA on the day of my crossing they sorted the problem there and then, no appointment.

I would speak to them and they will listen and put things back on track for you.

Well i got a call out the blue from them. The fella was very helpful and exlained when and why the bike eould be ready. Thats all i wanted really. Just some information.
