Here's the pics and story.................sorry for the delay
The weather was supposed to be sunny & dry, but alas the day dawned drizzly after heavy overnight rain..................must be a British Bank Holiday
We met on the Market Place @ Thirsk and it was a good turnout with some 10 bikes rocking up
We had a multitude of bikes, mostly Beemers but a Honda 250 Baja and Yam WR450...............respect for to Dale and Browny for coming on newish 12GS's on roadtyres
The rain had turned the top 1" of the ground into very slippery mud, on top of a very hard undersurface.....................so pretty treacherous
Here's some pics.................
Browny at the lunchstop
At lunch we lost the 12GS riders and Spout on his HP2e, plus Alastair on the Honda Baja..................but gained Tim, Lek (only a learner on Lplates) plus another friend of Tims
Near Amotherby
Just outside Malton.................pretty tricky lane
Near Fimber
After this lane we had a tea stop at Fimber Woods cafe and very nice it was!
After lunch the rain had eased and things were getting better
We did a couple of more lanes towards Driffield and Tim showed us another one, before inviting us to his house for tea and a warm-up
Thanks to Tim and his wife Lek for their very much appreciated hospitality at the end of the ride
We left and about 5.45 and the weather was glorious and we had a great ride home via Castle Howard and Kirkham Priory with Fritz and Bev, plus me and Dazzer
At Thirsk we said farewell to Dazzer and went to Tesco's to refuel and powerwash the bikes................Bev and Fritz suggested it was a lovely evening for a BBQ, well it was a Bank Holiday............I nipped home, showered and returned to their place for the evening BBQ
Thanks once again to all the riders, hope you enjoyed it and a special thanks to Fritz and Bev, not only for 'tail-ending'................but for their hospitality and a lovely end to a very nice day in the company of GS friends
