Bank Hoilday Monday - 30th May Green lane offroad rideout

Cheers

Cheers JB, it was a hell of a surprise ending up in Driffield, had to check the map on my return to verify distance involved, whist the weather had it's effects, I'm guessing one or two of us could have stayed upright had it been dry, but I've got to say it made that first beer taste all the sweater

Great day, hope our paths cross again, thanks to all involved for their positive attitude making the day worthwhile.

:beerjug: Chris.

Thoroughly enjoyed my mornings ride :thumb

Some of those lanes must have been scary for the 1200s on tourances

Wish I could have stayed longer (no one mentioned anything about a BBQ :D)

Cheers JB, and all :thumb

Ride out monday

Hi everybody thanks for a great day out and all the advice on green laning ray on 650gs ps hope I didn't slow you all down too much

Well, that was an interesting wood carving of mother and baby we found at the John Bunting Chapel (see photo above).

Probably even more interesting, was when we caught Fritz posing for Bev in similar fashion for a photoshoot around the back of the Chapel. See what you reckon!!

Cheeky devil  Bev says my beard is nowhere near that length :P

Another big...but late...thank you to Snr slime-ride planner.

My goodness, what a difference a day makes - Sunday would have been glorious and dry. Credit due to all who attended as even for us it was a (good old tradiutional) 130+ mile ride-out...and we didn't have to travel to the start - respect :thumb2

It took most of yesterday to clean Bev's bike, including the use of a glue gun on some plastics after a spectacular dismount at end of play. I've never run off a bike before ;) Talking of which, did I see JB relive a Rosedale XR moment earlier in the day:confused:

As always, a GREAT bunch of folk making the sh*te weather ignorable, and man, did we all have fun on that wolds clay or what?

Finally thanks to Tim and Lek for allowing the dirty few in for a cuppa...Lek did remarkably on her bike :thumb

Again please, on some far off field...but in dry.

One pic attached from earlier in day - who's the daddy?

More info on chapel here http://www.johnbunting.co.uk/memorial.html check out the video to see what the oridinal chapel looked like before the trees! And you get to see the interior too

Wow! Love the photo's - feel gutted that I didn't join you :(
Not sure about the mud though - would have had to wash the bike!

I'm incredibly busy throughout June, so please put something similar in the diary for July - my foot should be lots better by then too :)

Thanks Johnny.
Leigh and I Had a ride out to the cafe, excellent B roads in that area.

Replied to Dazzer.....................I'll post my ride pics tomorrow too:blast

Here's the pics and story.................sorry for the delay

The weather was supposed to be sunny & dry, but alas the day dawned drizzly after heavy overnight rain..................must be a British Bank Holiday

We met on the Market Place @ Thirsk and it was a good turnout with some 10 bikes rocking up

We had a multitude of bikes, mostly Beemers but a Honda 250 Baja and Yam WR450...............respect for to Dale and Browny for coming on newish 12GS's on roadtyres

The rain had turned the top 1" of the ground into very slippery mud, on top of a very hard undersurface.....................so pretty treacherous

Here's some pics.................

At lunch we lost the 12GS riders and Spout on his HP2e, plus Alastair on the Honda Baja..................but gained Tim, Lek (only a learner on Lplates) plus another friend of Tims

Near Amotherby

After this lane we had a tea stop at Fimber Woods cafe and very nice it was!

After lunch the rain had eased and things were getting better

We did a couple of more lanes towards Driffield and Tim showed us another one, before inviting us to his house for tea and a warm-up

Thanks to Tim and his wife Lek for their very much appreciated hospitality at the end of the ride

We left and about 5.45 and the weather was glorious and we had a great ride home via Castle Howard and Kirkham Priory with Fritz and Bev, plus me and Dazzer

At Thirsk we said farewell to Dazzer and went to Tesco's to refuel and powerwash the bikes................Bev and Fritz suggested it was a lovely evening for a BBQ, well it was a Bank Holiday............I nipped home, showered and returned to their place for the evening BBQ
