Just picked up by new GSLC this morning and done 80 miles cross country and loved it but feeling knackered...must be the stress of getting used to a new bike ;)

I've come from a Triumph Street Triple R and the bars feel like ape hangers. I have the low seat and that might be adding to the effect. Just wondering if it's something you get used to or whether anyone has lowered their bars....all talk seems to be about raising them.

Maybe you can get some flatter bars; dunno. Suggest riding it to get used to it. Never heard of anyone complaining their bars were too high. Some folks fit risers. Some folks even bring them back further too which beats me as to why the heck you'd want that. I'm happy with the standard setting, but rotate them forwards to get me in a more aggressive riding position.

Try this: put the seat in high position . Go for a ride , see what happens

I suspect that you need to relax on the bike. Being knackered after just 80 miles isn't very good. Part of that is quite correctly about being comfortable. If necessary, you can rotate the bars back and down a bit. There's also the question of how bike fit you are. I'm not the youngest or fittest but still did a good 240 miles around filthy, gravel-strewn and potholed Scottish Border B roads and unclassifieds, yesterday. At the end I was relatively fresh and impressed at just how much less tired I was than I would have been on my previous Twin Cam GS.

I have a low seat, standard height LC and don't have any problems with 350 + mile days. I am sure you will get used to it? Perhaps you need to go faster..............!

It's bound to be quite a change from the street triple. Give it a few weeks and I suspect you will adapt.

The gs is a big bike more suited to bigger taller guys because it's heavy also.

What height and weight are you?

Today I encountered probably the shortest lady rider on a GS at Loomies. 5"2 or 5"3 ? She had low seat and suspension , she had no problems . Also now I
know the price of petrol in Bolivia :D:blast
Yep she made it al the way there on the GS:thumby:

11 stone and 5'8" so no giant :)

Done 150 miles today and after further thought I think it's because I'm locking my arms when I sit naturally.

I'm going to try lowering my bars first, and if that doesn't work then fitting the bar risers that also bring the bars closer should give me a slight bend in the arms.

It's just the changeover from the small bar trumpet to the gs, personally do some miles before you change anything as you will gel within a couple hundred miles.

I had the same problem up until very recently, in that my short arms were pretty straight with elbows virtually locked, I fitted some Wunderlich bar/back/risers and now all is good, fitting the bar/backs has given me a little bit of slack in my elbows which has made all the difference. :)

About the same weight and height as me, I have had 2 previous GS though so am quite used to the bike. I always find a bit odd when I've been using my CB1300 for any length of time was even weirder when the wife had a Ninja 250 and I used to go out on that!

Don't make any rash decisions give it a try for a few hundred miles?

i am 5,8 as well , and coming from a 1400GTR , yes , the GS's bars seem almost shoulder height.

nonetheless , no issues with 600 miles days.

u just need conditioning vis the new bike.

.

keep at it geezer

keep at it geezer - this most likely will be the best option at this time before you start messing around with other stuff (which you may have to do after all but this can be just tweaking).

i struggled like hell at first then after a while became `used` or `conditioned` to it and all seemed ok :bounce1

But I still need longer legs..............

just a small note on the bar height vis those who go offroading : they seem tallish when you're sitting , but if you stand , the bars are just right.

I'm 6.4 ft and 19 st 😱
There's a reason why they call things "tosser sized" on here and it helps controlling this bike if your "tosser sized" that's for sure

Lower seat, lower bars, too heavy, too buffeting, too uncomfortable.....

BMW feel your pain.....

You're such a wag, Wappers.... However, you're also a bit out of date. This is the latest model....
