Bar risers on a 1150 GS Adventure

Ola,

Quick question, I want to fit some TT bar risers on my GS 1150 Adv, but I am worried that if I have them fitted and I drop the bike the sides of the tank might hit the ground...? At the moment it looks a close thing what do you reckon..?

They're fine; I have them fitted and to be honest you'll never be able to predict the angle the side of the bike will hit the ground or any other object in the event of an accident.

I reckon the tank is going to get a ding whatever ........ believe me if you have neck/back/posture problems the bar risers are worth the risk of a slightly (and I mean slightly) enhanced risk of impact to the tank.

I've dropped mine many many times....with bar risers...no damage to tank so far.

It is a matter of luck but it's not somethingthat bothers me ....the comfort improvement is great though for a tall git like me

Every Adventure I've seen on its side has been protected by the crash bars, and the handlebars are nowhere near the ground. Quite honestly, I don't see that the bar risers will make any difference to protecting the tank - as its protected anyway.

I'm looking to get some fitted on mine. The current bike is nowhere near as comfortable as the one I sold, so bar risers are definately on the list.

Thanks fellas, when I have dropped the bike the bar end has hit the ground, the tank looks remarkable close to the ground.. It just seemed that if the bar risers were fitted then the tank would be closer to the ground.

But as you say the comfort will out weigh any potential harm.
