I had a pair of simple risers on my 1200GS that just lifted the bars by about 20mm (not the the NN up and back ones) and they came with longer bolts to replace the stock ones.
My 07 Adv has the foglight switch-block mounted on the top of the bar mounts, so I assume that the new bolts would need to be drilled and tapped to accept the switch-block. Is there an easier way aound this?

The bolt you require would be very special so I reckon you'll have to make your own.

If I remember the 06 GSA had the light switch mounted on the left, next to the switchgear but I also think that had a shorter handlebar crossbrace that made room for the switch on the bars.......I reckon you'll have to make your own bolts................or instead of raising the bars how about lowering the seat and pegs!

I have the same problem,no one makes longer drilled out bolts .I rotated my bars back slightly and they seem more comfortable .There is someone on here who does Bar risers and he pm'd me that he would look into it ,no news as yet.:nenau

Can't say I've seen this sort of foglight switch, but it may be similar to an early BMW NavII mount? - in which case Wunderlich (e.g.) might sell the bolts without risers?

Thanks Clive. I rather stupidly hadn't thought of looking at the Wunderlich site. Looks like the same mounting as the navigation system - on my bike there is a switch block mounted there, made for two switches but containing just one for the front fog lights. Obviously OE.

I am thinking of fitting a matching switch in the blank to run a small, high intensity LED rear fog light - why don't bikes have those when cars do, we're much more vulnerable from rear impact in low visibility?

BMW used to offer a rear foglightkit for the Ks & Rs in the 80s and 90s..........maybe no longer a call for it?

risers

wunderlich! i had a set of 25ml risers from them that came with the bolts ready drilled and tapped to take the bm satnav cradle, my new gsa arrives at the end of may and was planning on fitting them to it, if for some reason they dont fit ill be selling them cheap!

Iwas lucky

Hi Happyhenry.........

Yep same thing for me! bought risers and forgot about the spotlight switch :blast

Called at a local bolt supplier for some longer one's with the tapped ends but no joy, while at the counter a guy walked in who the shop knew, had his own little engineering firm he just said out of the blue "I can do it for ya"!

Called back day later and there they where behind the counter, best bit? he did not want owt for it! :beerjug:

So just try a back street bolt supplier and ask if they know any local (little) enginerring firms? Worth a shot :thumb

The raisers have totaly transformed my 07 Adv riding postion.

Good luck!
