Earlier this month I noticed a thread on this subject but it is now a closed thread which we can't add to, which is a bit odd considering it's a particular GS subject and if posted elsewhere on the forum many GSers could miss it.
However, I use Grip Puppies which are better but not as effective as I wanted. As a result of one of the posts I have bought a set of heavier bar weights from Evotech (I don't have the link to hand) to use as well as the Grip Puppies and they are an improvement. I used to switch on the cruise control as often as possible while riding in that slightly buzzy 70/85 mph range so that I could relax my grip on the throttle but the other day after a ride at those kind of speeds (and above) I realised that I hadn't used the cruise control once, so in my experience the Evotech bar end weights are an improvement. Hope this helps someone.

Go get it Hilltop'd. I threw the grip puppies away afterwards and can enjoy the heated grips again.
PM me for dates.

Actually I found my grip Puppies useful for moderating the heat from the grips. The two settings used to be felt as very hot and too hot! Also the two sides were rather unequal. Now it is more like warm and hot which I find is just right, and the two sides seem closer to being the same temperature.

Something wrong there if they are different temperatures.

I was told it was due to the different construction between the left grip and the throttle grip, though you would think they might allow for that in designing the heated grips. To be fair the dealer did measure the temps when I asked about it, and there wasn't a massive difference from what I remember.

Hi - I've just bought a hex head and am experiencing what appears to be a common problem with bar vibration - I'm reading the post on bar weights but see your comment re Hilltop'd; what does that mean?

Hilltop Motorcycle remap the fuelling on your motorcycle to how a BMW engineer would have fuelled it, not the way a Euro-bureaucrat and accountant have. The engines run very lean with some dips in the power and torque at the specific revs where emissions are measured. One of the consequences are more vibrations at some those specific points. Unfortunately, one of those points is around the cruising speeds on motorways. My best riding mate and I both fitted grip puppies (neoprene/foam covers) to suppress the vibrations to reduce the numb fingers problem. After visiting Hilltop, we took the grip puppies off and now feel the warmth of the heated grips. He has a 2010 aircooled and I have a 2015 LC.

I tried heavier bar ends to remove the resonance in the handlebars. I have a lovely pair of stainless ones for sale.

PM me if you want to join a Group Discount Day.

The technicians also told me they also fine tune the timing of the injectors so they co-ordinate better.

Not sure if it is because the 1200GS is settling itself down, but went for a quick 200km ride this morning, mixture of Motorway and normal roads, I did not feel the vibration in the right hand fingers like the last ride.

This isn't a problem I've experienced on mine, so I'd be inclined to suggest that the answer doesn't lie in bars, grips, end weights, or whatever, but rather in the bike being in proper fettle. This might include the thing loosening up as you run I'm in. That said, it seems a bit widespread so I might just have been lucky and picked up a very well balanced motor.
