i have a 2003 1150gs in grapitan. love it.
but have always just hated the crappy tank
graphics. thinking of taking them off and
putting some of the adventure ones on - from the
silver version. how much are they? anyone know?
anyone done this? assume originals are easy to
remove as they are not lacquered in?? just heat a bit??
any thoughts would be welcomed. or i'll just go ahead
and let you know if it goes nasty...
thanks

Tim,

Don't know about the cost of Adv tank graphics. I took the (nasty) yellow flashes off my Adv tank. Just used a hair drier and warmed up one edge.....gently. I then used an old credit card as a scraper to get the edge to lift. If you carry on applying heat, the decal just shrivels and it's hard to peel it off. I found that once it was started it peeled off without heat, slowly. Any adhesive left I removed with acetone. Dobbed some polish on and you'd never know the offending bits were ever there!

adv graphics

when i got the adv tank , i had it spprayed mandarin..

i put the silver GS Letter stickers on their own.. left off the roundy bits..

stickers were only a few quid..

and easy enough to put on..

just like plastic lettering..

trick is to use a wet sponge to wet tank, then apply graphics..

u can move it around a bit while its still wet.. then squeegy dry,,

make sure you have no bubbles..

leave for a few hours to dry properly

done..

and upgraded to adv seat cause i find its more comfortable

adv panniers i got as well..

very handy..

especially the case mounts which fold down to give excellnt bast to carry other loads.. u can stap anything to the bike if you have enough bungey cords.. lol

for example, one rather large cardboard box containing pc case :-) big n awkward but light..
