I got a call today asking if I was interested in an older BMW R80, of course I am always interested, so I arranged to go see the bike, as it was not too far from me.

Well it turned out to be an 85 R80-RT, only two owners from new (father and son) and a genuine 26 thousand miles. Full BMWluggage, Taxed and tested, Stainless exhaust, new rear shock, and new coil. :thumb

So I bought it.

As you can see it needs a clean, and some new fork gaiters, but that is all.:bounce1

I've never quite understood the reasoning behind giving the R65 twin discs and the R80RT with all that weight to haul down from (relative) speed, a single disc set-up.

So I decided to offer it to a friend for what I gave for it... I am not one to make money out of friends if I can help it, so it was a good deal all round.

My mate Ed caught a train from over on the east coast today, and I picked him up at the station, I then took him over to the guy selling the bike, so they could sort out the paperwork. This was the chance for Ed to say no thanks, but he didn't, which was no real suprise, so we started up the bike, paid the guy some cash, he had only done ten miles since getting it MoT'd in May! he had also fitted a new battery as well.:thumb2

Then we topped up the gas, checked the tyres, found a leaky carb (float valve) and so Ed rode off the 150 miles home. If he finds he doesn't like the bike (first BMW) then I will have it back :Dfor the same money.
