Are they worth the wedge? I read somewhere that some folk had them buckle under the weight of an 1150 at slow speed/stationary falls. Wouldn't mind having a reinforced guard to protect the levers and my hands

Cheers

Had a set of barkbusters on my previous bike Kawasaki Versys they were bloody excellant. Covered all the hand . cannot say about whether they would survive a drop as never dropped the Versys unlike my present GSA....

would recommend them

My Barkbusters survived a drop sideways onto tarmac during a failed attempt at tow starting and I'm confident that I'd have lost the brake lever if I hadn't had them fitted. If you do any regular offroading I'd strongly recommend them.

My bike has taken a number of involuntary naps, the Barkbusters are intact and still doing their job :thumb

Thanks for the replies :thumb

I don't go offroad much, other than to find a decent spot to pitch a tent. I do however ride with lots of luggage and occasionaly a wife, which has resulted in a couple of slow speed/stationary drops. I've not damaged the oem guards but fear that I'll break a lever somewhere out in the sticks.

The only drawback with the BB's I'm guessing is that they wont provide the cover my oem's with the extra wind deflectors do?

To be honest, doing that sort of riding, I wouldn't bother with the expense of Barkbusters. If you fall over on soft ground on the way to the campsite, the luggage and the pot (and the pillion if they are feeling generous) will limit the damage by cushioning the fall. You should be able to get a pair of secondhand levers from Motorworks for less than the price of a pair of Barkbusters, too.

Also, you're right, the Barkbusters don't have the same wind protection as a standard set of deflectors with the Touratech spoilers.

Unless you're up in the black sea region of Turkey most surfaces are dry and/or rocky. My 'mishaps' have been on such surfaces. Still not sure if I should get them...do I really need them or do I just want them cos they look good??! I'll try to decide while having my lunch :D:D

mine hit the road at 30mph, lever intact, job done. Makes muffs a better fit as well.

Worked for me at 50+ mph at Rockinham, Plastic's scuffed and ally a little worn but still working ok, you can swap to the Storm plastics for the Winter.
