Well, I've now done 7000 miles and come to the conclusion after having a go on my mates 12 reg RT that there's something wrong with either the bars or the fairing. My mate had a sit on my bike and fiddled with the mirrors and sort of agreed with me. The mirrors are set the same as much as can be by eye.

Whilst I'm riding the bike my left hand is always cold due to wind blast whereas my right hand doesn't get any wind blast. I can see only the lower part of my left hand in the mirror whereas I can see not only all my right hand but sky above it.

What I need to do is try to figure out what is wrong but not sure how to set about this. Should I level the bike up on the centre stand, and measure the bars and mirrors ? not too sure how to get an accurate measurement though.

Would the local dealer be able to measure it up ? or perhaps they'll just fob me off with 'there's nothing wrong' sir ?

The bike has not been in an accident or even fallen over so no damage to anything there. Any ideas ?

Would be a damn good place to start, also get subjective, and some short bits of wool taped to your gloves to see wind direction etc...

Your not left handed are you?

Does not make sense ... the only bit of the mirror that has to do with wind "flow" .. is the outer (coloured) cowl. This is not adjustable ... so how did you "set" the mirrors ?
Try a spirit level between the bar ends (on a piece of flat level concrete or the like) - adjust steering till level is level !
measure up from datum point (ground !) to bars (middle) .... is dimension on R and L the same ?
when there - do same check to datum point on mirror casing - are they same ?
All should be equal I would have thought (Right and Lefts in each case).

go from there.

Yes I can see what I've written may not make a lot of sense, but both answers are sort of what I was expecting as it's what I am thinking of doing. it's a case of is the fairing off centre or the bars ?

I'll do the above and see what results I get.
