BASE FOR TOURING WALES

Im looking at 4 circular routes around Wales for a trip on bike and having never been before I wonder If I could get some recommendations, looking at Bala or somewhere further south, not a city but a small town perhaps with choice of accomodation and places to eat out.

As 3 of the routes are predominantly south maybe Machynlleth or Newtown could be a better base area

On the North Wales route there is a big chunk of A55 Expressway. Whilst the sea views are lovely youhave 27 miles of dual carriageway. The A5 to Bangor from Betws Y Coed is just as good as the A470 to Llandudno Junction

If I was from out of the area I would choose Bala or nearby and make the southern routes less south

Thanks have binned that northern route as I had another similar loop of Snowdonia that more closely followed your advice.

Metropole in Llandrindod don’t bat an eyelid when you walk in soaking and muddy wearing bike kit.
Plus it’s extra fun annoying all the geriatric golfers who use it.
