Fed up with thermal or base layer garments being way too short on the arms and legs. I concede that I have long arms and legs, and that stretchy clothing needs to contract one way to expand another. However there must be brands, makes, models that accommodate - anyone found anything?

You could look at skiing shirts from suppliers such as Decathlon. Some have longer sleeves with thumb holes so the cuff extends into the glove. You don’t have to use the thumb hole , but the fact it’s there means the sleeve is longer.

You could try Rohan. I bought a couple of their very long sleeved base layers in their recent sale and had to have them shortened.

You could tell bods the makes you have tried and rejected, which might save them offering up ideas which are useless to you.

I have long arms and I use Helly Hansen base layers

I recently bought a base layer by Zerofit, after seeing glowing reports from various bike testers. Not cheap at £55 but the technology definitely works - it's warm when you need it but just feels like a normal layer when indoors. And it's pretty long - I have to tuck it in my merino leggings

If you want warm merino isn’t really your friend unless it’s a thick knit. They usually grade it with a number (denier??): 150 is very thin and great for summer or a non-stink base with another layer or two for warmth.

Thickest straight-merino is about 250 to 300. This is warmer but not jumper or sweatshirt warm.

Outdoorsy stuff is generally made around sweat management/quick drying/not too warm for high activity sports not for sitting on a bike in a 70mph wind chill. Two merino layers better than one - traps more air and heat plus the friction the two layers create between them adds a bit of warmth.

Best base layers I’ve ever had for warmth are Scandinavian: Aclima Woolnet stuff or Woolpower terry knitted Ulfrotte fabric. Both super warm and both built for tall Vikings so plenty long in the arm bThe woolnet stuff edges it for on the bike. Although tbh the best thing is a Warm and safe heated base layer.

I am 6'4 with long body and long arms. Not cheap but the Icebreaker stuff is excellent - god length, they do a cheaper range (everyday - ribbed knot) - avoid as does not last. Personally I avoid the zip neck as may just be me but stubble catches zip and bloody hurts.

Is there any brand that’s not been suggested? :D

Aldi & Lidl, although the Teutonic designs must have been ameliorated by the Chinese as they fit my Buddha proportions

Decathlon are a no no, think they are designed for a 5' 8" European build.
Some good suggestions for tops, no one got any ideas for pants?

I think Zerofit do a pair of leggings in the same material. I don't have a problem with cold legs so just use a pair of Pro Skins, which are very thin but excellent at regulating temperature

regular leggings and long socks

Kind of, that's how I get by but trouble is that the ankle (narrowest part) of the trouser is up around my calf area
