Bash plate probs

Any one have any ideas of removing rear flexy rubber mounting on sump bash plate as the old one has split in half. Never noticed it until changed oil this morning.

A large socket (it was 19 or 21mm from what I remember), over the rubber to the very top and undo - the closer you can get to the top the better - may help with a little heat on the engine, however mine came off stone cold. New ones are ~£5, looks like they are prone to cracking...

Thanks fringe looks like it split leaving just a small edge free of the sump, so I can't really get a purchase on it. Will just prob have to dig around. The problem will be if it distorted and sheared because the top threaded portion is sized into the ally. Then I have to try and drill it out. Prob just leave it as the last owner must have done,

Go onto E bay or similar and buy a set of 8mm thread rubber anti vibration mounts , cut the threaded portion to the same length of standard and then replace then crap bmw parts with them for about 1/4 of the cost.

The originals lasted 12 months on mine , the e bay ones are still fitted 3 years later (just use copperslip on the threads )

ps the bmw ones do have a 21mm hex head on each end to which the rubber is bonded

An ordinary spanner did the job on mine. My socket's internal chamfer stopped it picking up on the rubber mount end plate.
