Are these the same on both models ?? The one in my 2005 1150 GSAdventure has just "collapsed" and even the Optimate can't get it back to life.

Also, I have seen some suggestions on dropping a higher Amp. battery in instead of the original :nenau any views on this ??

Same batteries on both models.

With regards to OEM vs. others, I can hear the oddysey evangelists in the distance - they'll be along soon to try and convince you to use a battery that doesn't fit properly and trades starting current for capacity :thumb

+1. :thumb

Just get the cheapest 19Ah battery to fit your bike, use it for three or four years, and be satisfied with the fact your bike's now running and you haven't spent twice the money to get there. It's a motorcycle and they all cost money to keep on the road. :comfort

Luddite springs to mind!

I'm with Matt, Odessey is a pricey fashion item. I've heard at least one person say that it's the gel that makes it worthwhile as it won't spill if the bike goes over (neither will the much cheaper, sealed, wet, OE item).

Same batteries on both models.
Just to be a pedant:

Same batteries will fit both but 1150GS came with a 12v 14AH battery and 600w alternator, the GSA with 12v 19AH battery and 700w alternator.

:duck:

There you have me - I guess I should have written that 19Ah is now considered the standard replacement for both :thumb

have a look in the special offers section

theres a place called tanya batteries, cheaper than motorworks,5 % disc and next day delivery, ive bought 3 from them so far, excellent service.
NOt connected by the way.P here

I'd go for an OE replacement in the correct size for your bike, the one on my 2003 1150 (c/w servo ABS & heated grips) is coming up to 8-years old and still performing well (you wait, it will die on me now!).

Just ordered a replacement from BMW Aberdeen. ....£122,- ...gel jobbie ......but I guess at least I get the comfort of OEM:friday....yes yes.....blow me away with ya comments :P

ah you see

If they're so good, why have you had to buy three?

Mike:augie
3 different bikes, made by varta, quality batteries, half the price of that gel rubbish.
Bmw tried to sell me the gel battery £130, no lead acid available they say.
Sorry they have had lead acid batteries since the invention of the wheel.
Im happy with the £60 odd quid one thanks, spins over like the clappers now.
