OK , so I have removed the right hand cover and can see the negative terminal, but how do I get access to the positive terminal, or do I remove the battery to attatch the optimate leads ?

Hi, just a quick one, attach the positive terminal to the auxiliary jump post, unscrew post (with red cable to it) & add the eyelet of your tender cable, re tighten post..

The owners manual chapter 8 pg 140. Remove RH battery cover. Remove battery negative lead. Remove battery retaining plate. Slightly lift battery and pull out to reveal battery positive. Remove battery positive. Now you can fit the Optimate fly lead. Assemble in reverse. Switch on ignition. Slowly open throttle from fully close to fully open twice to reset TPS.

Note: the LH cover opens access to the battery contacter which opens after 5 sec. There is a easier way of doing it as snoponphil poinetd out. When the RH battery cover is removed there is a post with a rubber cap. This would be connected to the battery positive.

I used the auxiliary terminals under the LEFT side triangular cover!
Fitted an Optimate tail lead with rubber cover for quick access for charging & also bought some additional plugs/sockets (£1 eBay) one of which I've fitted to a compresser.

Cheers guys, I noticed the auxiliary post but wasn't sure it would charge from there.

Take care not to push out the side panel peg rubber grommit when refitting, a spot of washing up liquid helps.

OK for jump leads (as per manual) and also OK for battery tender leads, or heated vests (with an inline fuse of course)
