Battery charger help needed NOW!

Could be the battery is fully charged? On mine the red light came on and off as the bike / battery allowed. On my current 1150 it does the same, the red light is not on all the time.

When I had my 1200 I had the extra socket on the front, which allowed me to have a DVM connected into a BM plug to see what was happening. When the light was on, the front socket was live ie showing 14 odd volts, light off 0 volts. I didn't try and see what the battery voltage was during the cycling as I never had a problem with a flat battery or connecting the charger.

AFAIK the charger is always putting out volts, approx 14.2, but is only putting out amps when the red light is on. This in my experience kept the can-bus controller powered so that when the battery voltage decreased, it allowed the amps to flow through the socket.

Reading through my earlier post I got something slightly wrong:

What was wrong is that the socket stayed at 14v irrespective of the light on the charger ie it's always pushing out 14v.

The tech @ my local dealer told me not to bother with the BMW charger, but to connect my Optimate directly to the battery - £140.00 saved thank you
There is a trick involving the throttle twist-grip, having disconnected the battery (which I've forgotten!), but isn't an issue if you're very quick.
