I have the bmw battery charger I bought for my GS. I now own an 08 GSA and tried to use the same charger but experienced various combinations of flashing red lights, the error light once and the charging light flashing.

I tried it two or three times with ignition off for a few mins as well as just off but it does not seem to want to play.

it always worked on my GS regardless when it was plugged in. incidentally I use the seat accessory socket and on the GS I had a flat battery a few times so left it on trickle charge when not used for more than a couple of days. whereas the GSA with its bigger battery seems to last a lot longer such that I've never had to charge it. I thought I would give it a charge as I am hoping to leave it somewhere for week or so before reuse.

I have a gps wired in at the front beak auxillary and I have the bmw auxillary spots fitted.

i did a seach on the battery charger and I see similar problems but no definitive answer except buy an optimate and take the seat off etc.

any help appreciated and apologies for any typos as I wrote this via my tiny phone keypad.

regards

nigel

There was an almost identical thread about this problem a few days back - search under 'trickle charge'.

The consensus was that accessories had probably been connected in such as way that the charger senses them and goes to error mode because of the different current draw.

Hope this helps!:thumb

Re wire your charger directly to the battery and see if that cures your problem. Might also be a good idea to check the in-line fuse (fit one if you need to) as these can also be a weak point. Good luck.
